Umlani Bushcamp is located in the Timbavati Nature Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park, accommodating up to 16 guests in traditional African reed and thatch huts. Umlani's philosophy of simplistic luxury and 'getting back to nature' is enhanced by the romance of candlelight and oil lamps, which replace electricity. Open-air bush showers complete the experience. Umlani's traditional African reed and thatch huts will not only provide you with all the comforts you need, but will also provide you with an authentic experience of local tribal (Shangaan) architecture and style, which blends in naturally with the environment.
Guests are able to experience an authentic wildlife experience in over 10 000 hectares of Big Five territory. Game drives, guided bush walks, and tracking game on foot with highly experienced Shangaan rangers and trackers guarantee an adventure of a lifetime in one of Africa's world-renowned unspoiled wilderness reserves. In the evening pre dinner drinks are served in the traditional boma around the fire, followed by one of Umlani's superb meals in the candle lit dining room, or out in the open riverbed surrounded by flares and cauldron fires.
Umlani has developed a Youth Leadership programme at Welverdiend Village, where the majority of staff are based. This programme, which is linked to the Wildlife College, entices historically disadvantaged learners to visit Umlani, where they gain insight into environmental issues and find out about eco-tourism career opportunities.
Umlani’s has an exemplary staff HIV / Aids programme, designed by local expert Grace Mashaba, featuring awareness workshops and one-on-one staff counseling during her monthly visits. Umlani also provides staff with medical care, including the right to consult a traditional healer, which is aligned to the FTTSA principle of respect for human and cultural rights, as well as for the environment.
Umshanti is a small lodge on the Buffeljags dam with stunning views of the Langeberge. We sleep about 50 people and have a bar, dining room and conference room.
On the dam is a barge that do breakfast or sunset cruises, a thrilling fuffi-slide and canoes. We also have a beautifull hike up to mountain pools and a cycle route in the mountain. You can bring your own ski-boat to use on the dam. We mostly do corporates during the week and families on weekends.
